Ruth Mary (McCabe) Yantis 88 of Findlay, IL, passed away at 1:48 AM Saturday Oct. 16, 2010 in Shelby Memorial Hospital in Shelbyville, IL.

Ruth was born Nov. 7, 1921 near Lakewood, IL the daughter of Albert Willard and Elsie Brandt McCabe.She was one of eleven children.

She married William Smith and to this union a son William Richard was born.She married Caryl (Jack) Yantis May 30, 1947, and to this union three children were born: Jackie Lee, Janet Sue and Jody Lynn.Caryl passed away Dec. 25, 1967.

Ruth, formerly, owned and operated the “House That Jack Built” restaurant in Findlay for several years.In earlier years, she worked at the Flamingo Hair Pin Factory in Danville, IL and Sta-Rite Ginnie Lou Corp. in Shelbyville.

Surviving are sons William (Bill) Smith of Findlay, Jackie Yantis and wife Kristi of Decatur, IL and daughter Janet Mead and husband Gary of Cabool, MO; daughter-in-law Deanna Yantis of Findlay; brothers: Earl McCabe and wife Rosemary of White Hall, IL, Carl McCabe and wife Wilma of Westville, IL; sisters-in-law Nadine McCabe of Marion, IL and Maureen Kalkwarf of Flanagan, IL; eleven grandchildren; fifteen great grandchildren; six great great grandchildren.

Ruth was preceded in death by her husband Caryl, son Jody, granddaughter Carly, parents, and brothers: Bill, Carter, Elmer, Ralph, Homer and Charles; sisters: Cleo Jeffers and Berniece Jackson.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM Tuesday Oct. 19, 2010 in Lockart –Green Funeral Home in Findlay.Nathan Jesse will officiate.Visitation will be from 6:00-8:00 PM Monday in the funeral home.Burial will be in Findlay Cemetery.Memorials can be made to the Findlay Fire Dept or the Findlay Ambulance Service.On line condolences may be directed to the family at www.lockartgreenfuneralhome.com
