Betty Jane Waggoner-Wilson, 84, of Shelbyville, died at 12:15 a.m. Thursday May 31, 2012 at the Shelbyville Rehabilitation and Health Care Center.

Betty Jane was born October 12, 1927 in Kewanee Illinois the daughter of Frank and Olive (Bickers) Paxton.She graduated from Wethersfield Twp Schools receiving an award for never missing school, while walking 1 ˝ miles from her family’s farm. Betty attended Eureka College and met and married her future husband George R. Waggoner Jr. on October 3rd, 1946 at the Eureka Christian Church.The couple moved to Shelbyville following George’s graduation and Betty began work at the Shelby County State Bank and followed that with a 35 year Career as a Caseworker for the State of Illinois. Her husband George preceded her in death March 7, 1986 after 39 years of marriage. She later married Forest Wilson June 29, 1996 and he preceded her in death March 5, 2009.

She loved knitting, reading, bird watching, bridge and Bunco and a great fan of Dancing with the Stars Betty Jane loved to stay busy with her much loved family. She loved her annual family trips to Dauphin Island, Alabama and traveling with friends and family.

Surviving are sons, Chuck (Marlene) Waggoner of Shelbyville and Jeff (Beth) Waggoner of Glen Ellyn; grandchildren, Brooke (Brad) Johnson of Woodbridge, VA, Ben Waggoner of St. Louis, Michele Waggoner and Julia Jane Waggoner of Glen Ellyn; great-grandchildren, Abigayle and Rebekah Johnson of Woodbridge, VA

She was preceded in death by her parents, husbands and brother, Robert Paxton.

Graveside services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday in Glenwood Cemetery, Shelbyville with Rev. Jeff Grote officiating. Visitation will be from 3:00 to 6:00 p.m. Saturday in the Lockart-Green Funeral Home, Shelbyville. Memorials may be made to the First Presbyterian Church, Shelbyville or the Habitat for Humanity.
