James William “Tim” Welsh 92 of Shelbyville, Illinois passed away at 8:55 AM Monday July 13, 2015 in the Shelbyville Manor in Shelbyville.

Tim was born July 24, 1922 in St. Peter, Fayette County, Illinois the son of William R. and Ella Knecht Welsh, who were later long-time residents of Findlay, Illinois.

He married Ruby Fern Kensil in Shelbyville at the First Christian Church of Shelbyville in December of 1947 by the late Rev. Orville Miller.Ruby passed away on November 6, 2000 following a lengthy illness.He married Genevieve D. Burrus Sarver of Beecher City, Illinois on December 8, 2004 in First Christian Church of Shelbyville by Rev. Kevin Ray.Genevieve passed away on November 6, 2012.

He was a graduate of Findlay Community High School in the Class of 1940.

He enlisted in the U.S. Army Air Force in September of 1942.He served in the South Atlantic Wing of the Air Transport Command at Natal, Brazil as an aircraft mechanic and crew chief attaining the rank of Technical Sergeant.He was honorably discharged in November of 1945.

Tim retired in 1986 from the Quality Control Department of Mueller Company of Decatur, Illinois. He earlier was employed by the Oliver Corporation of Shelbyville and Blaw- Knox Corporation of Mattoon, Illinois.

Tim was a member and Elder Emeritus of First Christian Church of Shelbyville.He was a member of Jackson Masonic Lodge # 53, member and Past Patron of Shelbyville Chapter #69 Order of the Eastern Star and Roy Vanderpool American Legion Post #81 all in Shelbyville.

On August 26, 2014 he was afforded the opportunity to participate in a Veteran`s Honor Flight to Washington, DC. where he and other Veterans visited the World War II Memorial, Arlington National Cemetery, changing of the guard at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier, the United States Air and Space Museum and many other historical sites.

Surviving are step-daughter Evelyn Sue Hamilton and husband Mark of Semmes, Alabama; grandsons: Joshua Hamilton and wife Nancy and Jesse Ray Hamilton and wife Beth; great-grandchildren: Krista Hamilton and Cole Hamilton.He, also, leaves several nieces, nephews, cousins and many close friends.

He was preceded in death by his wife Ruby, wife Genevieve, his parents and sister Geraldine.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Sunday July 19, 2015 in the First Christian church of Shelbyville.Rev. Kevin Ray will officiate.Visitation will be 5:00-700 PM Saturday in Lockart-Green Funeral Home in Shelbyville and one hour before the service at the Church on Sunday.Masonic rites will be at 7:00 PM Saturday in the Funeral Home.Military rites will be performed by the Shelby County Honor Guard.Burial will be in Glenwood Cemetery, Shelbyville.Memorials may be made in Tim’s memory to First Christian Church of Shelbyville or Donor`s Choice.On line condolences may be directed to the Family at www.lockartgreenfuneralhome.com
