Laura “Lori” Lee VanVoohris, 51, of Mattoon parted this life at 2:45 p.m. on Saturday, December 3, 2011 surrounded by her family. Funeral services will begin at 6:00 p.m. Wednesday, December 7, 2011 at the Lovins-Lockart Funeral Home, Windsor. Visitation for family and friends will be held from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. prior to the funeral.

Lori was born in Mattoon, Illinois on November 21, 1960, a daughter of Carl D. Leathers and Suanne H. (Leathers) Wade. She is survived by her father, her boyfriend; Phil Goben of Mattoon, her children; Courtney M. VanVoohris of Leroy and Tucker Lea-Townsend VanVoohris of Leroy; two sisters, Dena J. Burtcheard and fiancé, Paul E. Cutright of Windsor and Carla S. Leathers of Windsor; three nieces, Carley N. Leathers of Mattoon, Misty D. Benz-Bushling of St. Mary’s GA and Katheran “Ashli” Turner of Shelbyville and one nephew; Dalton D. Turner of Windsor, two great-nephews ands two great-nieces. Lori was anxiously awaiting the birth of her third great-niece to be born early next year. She is also survived by her long time best friend, Sarah Flaherty, many loving uncles, aunts, cousins and close friends. She is preceded in death by her mother and an infant brother.

Lori married Daniel T. VanVoohris on June 2, 1984 and together had two children. Lori was employed as a dental lab technician at Lawrence & Co. Dental Lab in Mattoon for over twenty-five years. Lori will be lovingly remembered for her kind spirit, her compassion and her strong connection to family and friends. Memorial gifts in her honor may be made to the family.
