Mary F. Thompson, 105, of Shelbyville passed away at 3:22 p.m. Sunday (January 19, 2014) at the Shelbyville Manor.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday in the Lockart-Green Funeral Home, Shelbyville with Rev. Kevin Ray officiating. Visitation will be from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Thursday. Burial will be in Glenwood Cemetery, Shelbyville. Memorials may be made to the First Christian Church, Shelbyville.

She was born July 23, 1908 in Saline County, MO the daughter of Valentine J. and Nancy (Knox) Ballard. She married Burl A. Thompson and he preceded her in death in 1987.

She was a member of the First Christian Church in Shelbyville with the honor of Deaconess Emeritus, member of the Christian Women’s Fellowship Group # 1and a volunteer for the Retired Senior Program for many years.

Surviving are her children, Marjorie Blancett of Decatur, Charles A. Thompson (Jean) of Tucson, AZ, Janet Moran of Omaha, NE, Sonja McKenzie of Valdosta, GA and Jacqueline Chaney of Shelbyville; 14 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; 13 great-great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Valentine Ballard and Nancy Donaldson, husband, Burl, son, Jackie (twin brother of Jacqueline), grandsons, David and Patrick, brothers, Charles Ballard, Clarence Donaldson, Ray Donaldson and sister, Margaret Reynolds and son-in-laws, Norman Blancett, Don Moran, Gary McKenzie and Larry Chaney.

The family would like to thank the staff of the Shelbyville Manor for their loving hands and great care of Mary they have given during her stay.
