Barbara Jean Taylor, 79, of Shelbyville died at 4:04 a.m. Thursday (October 18, 2012) at the Mattoon Healthcare Center.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Monday at the Lockart-Green Funeral Home, Shelbyville. Visitation will be from noon until service time. Burial will be in Glenwood Cemetery, Shelbyville. Memorials may be made to her grandchildren.

She was born December 5, 1932 in Shelby County the daughter of Arthur Henry and Katie Marie (Clemons) Phegley. She married John W. Taylor December 2, 1949 in Shelbyville.

She was a former telephone operator and a stay at home Mom. She was a member of the Cornerstone Church in Shelbyville. She loved her children and especially her grandchildren, crossword puzzles, Matt Dillon and Gunsmoke.

Surviving are her husband of 60 years, John, children, Brenda (Doug) Doss, Michael (Donna) Taylor, Margie Taylor all of Shelbyville and Phyllis (Gregory) Ridenhour of Mattoon, grandchildren, Mindie Calhoun of Jewett, Jeremy Taylor, Adam Taylor, Mandie Thomas, Matthew Thomas all of Shelbyville, Johnathan Preston of Montrose and Katie Rigg of Mattoon; 19 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandchild; brother, Stanley (Jane) Phegley of Shelbyville.

She was preceded in death by her parents, sister, Margie Ballinger and infant brother, James Arthur Phegley.
