Donald F. Storm, 82, of Shelbyville passed away at 9:10 a.m. Wednesday (August 24, 2011) in the Heartland Health Care Center, Decatur.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday in the First Presbyterian Church in Shelbyville with Rev. Jeff Grote officiating. Visitation will be from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Monday in the Lockart-Green Funeral Home, Shelbyville. Burial will be in the Ash Grove Cemetery, Windsor with military rites. Memorials may be made to the First Presbyterian Church, Alzheimer’s Foundation or the Seven County Kidney Fund.
He was born May 18, 1929 in Gays the son of Truman Russell and Mary Lucille (Kirk) Storm. He was previously married to Dela F. Kersten on February 23, 1951 in Urbana.
He was a graduate of the University of Illinois and passed the bar exam in 1953 and also became a CPA. He was a tax attorney for Country Companies and later an assistant vice-president in tax counsel with State Farm Insurance. He served in the US Army as a 1st Lieutenant during the Korean War from 1952 to 1956 and was a member of the Army reserves from 1956 to 1962.
He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, Shelbyville, N.R.A and formerly a mason and member of the Elks Club.
Surviving are daughter, Karen Storm Monroe and husband, Brad of Morton; sons, Dr. David F. Storm and wife, Anne-Marie of Waldorf, MD and Karl E. Storm and wife Lore of Edmond, OK; grandchildren, Michael Monroe, Jacob Monroe, Craig Storm, Kyle Storm, Patrick Storm,Jeremy Storm, Amy Aves and Nicole Aves; brother, Kirk Storm and wife, Mary Lena of Auburn, WA; sisters, Isabel Hansen of Lakewood, CO, Shirley Johnson and husband, Bob of Rochester, MN and Carol Gelwicks and husband, Tom of Minocqua, WI.
He was preceded in death by his parents,Thruman and Mary Storm, daughter, Kimberly Storm and sisters, Evelyn Edwards and husband, Floyd and Rosemary Eads and husband, Bob.
