Maxine Shafer, 91, of Windsor passed away at 9:15 p.m. Friday (February 25, 2011) at the Sarah Bush Lincoln Health Center, Coles Co.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 Thursday in the Lovins-Lockart Funeral Home, Windsor with Rev. James Dona and Rev. Richard Eident officiating. Visitation will be from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday. Burial will be in the Ash Grove Cemetery near Windsor. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Garrett-Baldridge American Legion Auxiliary or the Windsor Harvest Picnic Association.

She was born November 1, 1919 in Ash Grove Township the daughter of Oscar C and Fern (Leffler) Fisher.

She attended Ash Grove and Windsor schools graduating in 1938.

She married Laurence Shafer, August 10, 1941 in Festus, MO and he preceded her in death January 14, 1993.

She was a member of the Ash Grove Christian Church, gold star member and gold star mother of the Garret-Baldridge American Legion Auxiliary, former member of the Windsor Township Board and former election judge.

Surviving are sons, Larry L Shafer (Maria) and Terry Shafer of Windsor; grandchildren, Bob Shafer, Becky Shafer, Tara Shafer and Jason Shafer; great-grandchild, Karlee Tucker.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Laurence, brother, Don Fisher, son Robert L. Shafer, daughter, Rebecca F. Shafer and grandson, R. Todd Shafer.
