James Eldon “Buck” Russell, 86, of Pana passed away Wednesday (August 14, 2014) at his residence.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday in the Lockart-Green Funeral Home, Shelbyville with Pastor Ron Brown officiating. Visitation will be from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Monday. Burial will be in the Price Cemetery near Herrick. Memorials may be made to the donor’s choice.
He was born May 25, 1928 in Shelbyville the son of Freddie Clarence and Edna Marie (Severe) Russell. He married Opal Bland October 6, 1945 in Hillsboro.
He was a member of the International Operating Engineers Local 841 in Terre Haute, owned Russell and Russell Trucking and Excavation, was a heavy equipment operator, coalminer and worked in the tunnels in Chicago.
Surviving are his wife, Opal; son, Melvin Russell (Cindy) of Pana; daughter, Brenda Shoraga of Hammond, IN; grandchildren, Shelly Rakers,Rebecca Russell, Amy Schoonover, Moe Russell, Jamie Russell, Brandon Kamalii and Dusty Kamalii; 25 great-grandchildren; brother, Carl Russell of Pana; sisters, Shirley Coultus of Tower Hill, Rose Marie Russell of Shelbyville and Elsie Baccadutre of Taylorville.
He was preceded in death by his parents, son, Ronnie, brothers, Jason and Mason and sisters, Opal, Eva, Virginia (Jenny), Immajean and Rita.
