James L. Rothrock, 68, of Mode passed away at 9:10 p.m. Wednesday (November 19, 2014) at his residence.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday in the United Methodist Church in Stewardson. Visitation will be from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. Friday at the Brummerstedt Funeral Home, Stewardson. Burial will be in Union Cemetery near Mode with military rites. Memorials may be made to St. Anthony’s Home Care Hospice, the United Methodist Church or the American Legion.
Jim was born November 22, 1945 in Shelbyville the son of Dwight and Dorothy Lucille (Ragan) Rothrock. He married Carole Hildebrand Steele July 22, 1967 in Montrose.
Jim graduated from Stewardson-Strasburg High School in 1964 and the served in the US Army during the Vietnam War. He worked for MBI Construction for 35 years, mostly as a concrete finisher. He was an avid outdoorsman, who enjoyed hunting and fishing. He played many sports including baseball, softball, basketball and volleyball. He also was an avid water skier and cattle roper. He was a member of the United Methodist Church in Stewardson where he held many offices, and the Stewardson American Legion.
Surviving are wife, Carole, children, Mike Steele (Shari) of Normal, Angie Brown (Ed) of Stewardson, Theresa Bequette (Bob) of Stewardson, Carrie Wharton (Scott) of Mason and Cathy Reel (John) of Strasburg, brothers, Ronald Rothrock (Sue) of Findlay and Brian Rothrock (Mirinda) of Decatur; sister, Linda Jackson of Neoga; 16 grandchildren;31 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and grandparents.
