John C. Ramsey, 83, of Windsor passed away at 9:31 p.m. Sunday (August 9, 2015) at the Mattoon Rehabilitation & Health Care Center.
He was born August 24, 1932 in Windsor the son William and Ella Frances (Curry) Ramsey. He married Ramona Mummel October 25, 1954 in Evansville, IN and she preceded him in death January 9, 1979.
He served in the US Army in the Korean War. He was a member of the Windsor Christian Church, IBEW in Decatur and worked as a union boilermaker, welder and electrician.
Surviving are his daughter, Linda Pierre (Raymond) of Dulac, LA; sister Esther Algood of Aurora; 7 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great- grandchild and good friend, Carol Harrelson of Windsor.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, daughters, Brenda and Glenda, grandchildren, Raymond Scott and Amanda Pierre, brother, Bud and sisters, Elizabeth, Ruth and Mary.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Thursday in the Lovins-Lockart Funeral Home, Windsor with Rev. Richard Eident officiating. No visitation. Burial will be in the Windsor Cemetery with military rites. Memorials may be made to Windsor Piece Meal.
