Evelyn C. Ramsden 94 of Decatur, IL, formerly of Findlay, IL, passed from this life at 1:23 AM on Thursday Mar. 1, 2012 at University Health and Rehabilitation Center in Edwardsville, IL, rejoining her loved ones who preceded her into her new Heavenly home.

Evelyn was born Dec. 1, 1917 at Findlay, IL the daughter of Guy and Bertha Weathers Enoch.

Upon graduating from Findlay High School she received a scholarship to Normal University in Normal, IL, however she chose to attend Sparks College in Shelbyville, IL where she studied accounting and bookkeeping.

She married Rev. Charles Kirk Ramsden Sr. on January 25, 1939, in Madisonville, KY and he passed away July 2, 1990

After their marriage, they moved to California to work in naval shipyards until WWII ended. Upon returning after the war, they made their home in Findlay, IL and later Decatur, IL.Evelyn went to work and retired from Illinois Power Co. in Decatur.

Evelyn is survived by her children Charlene Mazurier and husband Tony and Charles Ramsden Jr. and wife Linda and four grandchildren.

She was a very loving wife, mother and grandmother.She was a devoted Christian and supporter of her faith throughout her life.During her hospital stay, Evelyn was heard singing “Jesus Loves Me”. Although her stroke left her unable to speak, she still found a way to witness to others.

She was very talented at many forms of handwork, including, quilting, crocheting and cake decorating.She enjoyed painting and was a marvelous cook for her family and friends.She also loved to study her beloved Bible.Prior to being homebound while she was able, she attended Wesleyan Church and Stone Street Church of God both in Decatur.

She was preceded in death by her husband Rev. Charles K. Ramsden Sr., her parents Guy and Bertha Enoch and brothers: Thomas Wayne, Paul and Woodrow Enoch and her furry poodle companion “Beady Ramsden”.

A celebration of her life will be held at 1:00 PM Wednesday Mar. 7, 2012 in Lockart-Green Funeral Home in Findlay.Pastor John Moffatt will officiate.Visitation will be from 12:00 noon until time of the service on Wednesday at the funeral home.Interment will be beside her her husband in Findlay Cemetery at Findlay, IL. The family has requested that in lieu of flowers memorials can be made to Pacific Garden Mission in Chicago, IL, Second Church of God in Decatur, IL or charity of your choice.
