Jimmie E. Porter, 76, of Shelbyville, formerly of Mountain Home, AR, passed away at 11:35 p.m. Saturday (December 20, 2014) at his residence.

Visitation will be from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. Sunday (December 28, 2014) at the Lockart-Green Funeral Home, Shelbyville. Private family burial will follow. Memorials may be made to the family.

He was born September 1, 1938 in Brownstown the son of Charles and Maudie Mae (Rhine) Porter. He married Barbara Sue Johnson November 16, 1957 and she preceded him in death February 21, 1991.

He worked as a farm mechanic for many, many years, well known by many farmers. He was employed by Don Kuhle Implement in Assumption for 38 years. He loved to cook, have fish frys, woodworking and tractors.

Surviving are daughters, Cheryl Goodwin (Danny) of Shelbyville, Susan Harbarger of Shelbyville, Carla Arter (Rob) of Assumption, Barbara “Lynn” Helm (Steve) of Tower Hill; son, Dale Porter of Mountain Home, AR; sister Lavern Buff of St. Elmo; special friend, George Converse of Mountain Home, AR; 9 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren; 4 step-grandchildren; 2 step-great-grandchildren; many nieces nephews and great friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, sisters, Violet Durbin, Emma Stiner, Sarah (Jack) Grandfield and Dorothy Feezel and brother, Charles Porter.
