Virgil Lyle Paulson, 86, of Mattoon formerly of Windsor passed away at 4:30 a.m. Tuesday (July 6, 2010) at the Sarah Bush Lincoln Health Care Center, Coles County.
Funeral services honoring his life will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday in the Lovins-Lockart Funeral Home, Windsor with Rev. Kevin Wolfe officiating. Visitation will be from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Thursday. Burial will be in Cochrans Grove Cemetery (Ash Grove Cemetery), Windsor. Memorial gifts in his honor are suggested to Ash Grove Christian Church or Broadway Christian Church.
Virgil was born August 21 1923 in Ash Grove Township the son of William and Nettie (Ferguson) Paulson. He married Patsy Ann Broyles September 22, 1948 in Ash Grove and she preceded him in death November 2, 2001.
Survivors include one daughter, Brenda Bennett and husband Bob of Decatur; one son, David Paulson and wife Dawn of Gays, one granddaughter, Mindy Shaw and husband Gary; five grandsons, Mark Risley and wife, Sherry, Mike Risley, Doug Paulson and wife, Amanda, Dan Paulson and fiancée, Kristy Bradley and Michael Bennett; eight great-grandchildren, Sidney Paulson, Taylor and Kaylynn Shaw, Cassie and Nate Eubanks, Molly Shelton, Paige and Ben Schoonover; sister, Blondell Bennett and husband Dean of Windsor.
Virgil was a member of the Ash Grove Christian Church, Windsor and attended the Broadway Christian Church in Mattoon
Virgil grew up on a farm north of Trowbridge where he loved farming. He later worked at Bennett Tire Co. in Windsor and retired from Blaw Knox Construction Co. in Mattoon.
He was preceded in death by his parents and wife.
