Dallas Eugene Morris 79 of Decatur, IL passed away at 6:20 PM Friday Sept. 24, 2010 in his home.
Dallas was born Mar. 27, 1931 in Stewardson, IL the son of Redvers and Fleta Stevens Morris.
He attended school in Boody, IL and Decatur, IL.In his early years, he piloted the Morris Air Ambulance as an employee of Trans American Air Lines.He worked for several years at St. Mary’s Hospital in Decatur for the Pinkerton Detective Agency, and for several years at Scruggs and Drake as a hydraulics technician and welder.In later years he owned and operated Morris Construction Co.
Dallas was a 50 year life- member of South Macon Masonic Lodge #467.He was an avid CB enthusiast, and was known as “Tonto”.
He married Phyllis Thompson in 1950 and they later divorced.In 1977 he married Rosemary Gaddis Roderick and she survives.
Also surviving are a son Randy Morris of Springfield, IL; daughters: Gladys(Stephen)Bublitz, Sandy Morris and Rosmarie(Kenny)Bean all of Decatur; brothers: Laurence Daren Morrisand Donald(Lynda)Morris both of Decatur; sister Ilene(Robert) Wong of Decatur; eleven grandchildren; twenty-two great grandchildren.He was preceded in death by is parents, brother Junior Morris, three sons, one daughter and one granddaughter.
A graveside service will be held at 2:00 PM Tuesday Sept. 28, 2010 in Stewardson Cemetery, Stewardson, IL.Rev. Dan Taylor will officiate.A visitation at the cemetery will be from 1:30 PM until time of the graveside on Tuesday.Memorials can be made to Decatur Memorial Hospital Hospice.Arrangements are entrusted to Brummerstedt Funeral Home in Stewardson.On line condolences may be directed to the family at www.lockartgreenfuneralhome.com
