Sharol Forest Miller, 96, of Beecher City formerly of Taylorville went home to be with the Lord at 10:00 a.m. Saturday (April 21, 2012) at the Lakeland Rehabilitation and Health Center, Effingham.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday in the Lockart-Green Funeral Home, Beecher City with Pastor Van Brooks officiating. Visitation will be one hour before service time. Burial will be in Hubbartt Cemetery, Shelby County. Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association.
Sharol was born March 22, 1916 in Lily, IL (Tazewell County) the son of Oscar and Blanche (Burroughs) Miller. He married Opal Mollie Cooper June 30, 1934 in Salem and she preceded him on death February 7, 2009.
Sharol was a charter member of the Bethel Baptist Church in Beecher City. In 1978 he retired from Georgia-Pacific Paper Co. in Taylorville where he was a forklift driver. Moving to Beecher City in 1979, he with the help of his children built a country hillside home. He enjoyed watching deer roam through the fields, and birds feeding at his bird feeders.
Surviving are his children; Helen Franklin of Taylorville, Charles Paul Miller and wife Dolores of Stonington, Mary Ann White of Beecher City, Sharol Jr. Miller of Brownstown, Pat Mathias of Smithville, TN, Jane Long and husband Dean of Taylorville, Jack Miller and wife Martha of Murry, KY, Ron Miller of Crete and David Miller and wife Cindy of Holiday, TN; 35 grandchildren; 85 great-grandchildren; 42 great-great-grandchildren; half brother, Joe Collins of St. Charles, MO.
He was preceded in death by his wife Opal Mollie Miller, daughter, Donna Jean Miller, his parents, grandsons, Colin Miller and Bradley White, brothers, Avon Miller and Charles Shirley Miller, sisters, Genelle Curtis, Daisy Matthews, Eunice Decker, Darlene Sexton and Mildred Turvey, son-in-laws, Gillis Franklin and James Mathias.
