Norma Jean McElroy 88 of Shelbyville, IL, formerly of Tower Hill, IL, passed away at 1:45 PM Thursday July 22, 2010 in the Shelbyville Rehabilitation and Health Care Center in Shelbyville.
Norma was born Mar. 15, 1922 at Sullivan, IL the daughter of James Thomas and Mabel Erma Sentel Gustin.
She married Pete Wempen and he passed away in 1971.She married Haldon McElroy in 1882 and he passed away in 1996.
Norma, formerly, was employed at the Mallory Corp. in Pana and later owned and operated the Dog `N Suds and Norma’s Beauty Shop both in Pana.In her later years she worked as a cook in the kitchen of the Heritage Manor Nursing Home of Pana.
Norma loved oil painting, handcrafts and tending to her vegetable and flower gardens.
She was a member of the Christian Church, Eastern Star and Amaranth all of Tower Hill.
Surviving are daughters Donn Ella Davis of Sullivan, IL and Sharon Kay Cutright of Homer, IL; nine grandchildren; twenty great grandchildren; five great great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husbands Pete and Haldon, son Bill Barr, daughter Charlotte Slayton, parents and seven brothers.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Sunday July 25, 2010 in Lockart-Green Funeral Home in Shelbyville.Visitation will be from 1:00 PM until time of the service on Sunday.
