Orpha Leliah Matheny 91 of Shelbyville, IL, passed away at 3:45 AM Wednesday Mar. 24, 2010 in Shelbyville Rehabilitation and Health Care Center in Shelbyville.
Orpha was born Nov. 11, 1918 in Shelby Co. the daughter of Ralph and Grace Glick.
She married Edward (Short) Matheny Mar. 14, 1936 in Shelby Co.
Orpha was a farm wife as well as working at Sta-Rite Ginnie Lou Corp. in Shelbyville for over 50 years and later working at the Shelby Historic House and Inn for 8 years.She was an avid bowler and a member of the Women’s Bowling Association, Shelby Farm Bureau and she loved to dance.
Surviving are granddaughters Marla Young of Sparta, TN and Correana Armstrong of Shelbyville; grandson Rob Armstrong and wife Terry of Albuquerque, NM; great grandchildren: Kena Leszcynski and husband Jason of Sachse, TX and Kyle Armstrong of Shelbyville; sister-in-lawMargaret Fuller of Shelbyville and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband Edward, parents, daughter Dorothy Edwinna Armstrong, son-in-law Leo (Mule) Armstrong, granddaughter Ruth Ann Gregg, grandson Randy Armstrong and son-in-law Fred Young.
A graveside service will be held at 1:00 PM Sunday Mar. 28, 2010 in Mound Cemetery, Cowden, IL.The Rev.
