James Daryl Lynch, 79, of Shelbyville passed away at 7:15 p.m. Tuesday (February 22, 2011) at the Decatur Memorial Hospital.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday in the Lockart-Green Funeral Home, Shelbyville with Rev. Kevin Ray officiating. Visitation will be from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Friday. Burial will be in the Glenwood Cemetery, Shelbyville with military rites by the Shelby County Honor Guard. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.

Jim was born November 4, 1931 in Dewitt County, Illinois the son of Harold H. and Rhea A. (Reed) Lynch.

He attended Clinton High School before serving in the US Army during the Korean War. After returning home, he married Lula Dell Jones in Mt. Pleasant, TX. Jim was a mechanic for Carl Grabb Motors retiring in 1993.

He was a charter member of the Shelby County VFW Post # 4829, member of the Shelbyville American Legion Post 81 and Sons of the American Legion Squadron 81. He held various offices in these organizations at the local, state and national levels. Jim enjoyed camping, fishing, woodworking and traveling for the VFW.

Surviving are his wife, Lula Dell; three sons, Steve Lynch (Debbie) of Clinton, Robert Lynch (Millie) of Selmer, TN and Gary Lynch (Julie) of Shelbyville;mother-in-law, Lula Mildred Jones; sister, Wanda Collins of Mequon, WI; 11 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews and faithful friend, Mitzy.

He was preceded in death by his father, Harold and mother, Rhea.
