Larry Joe Lorton of Stoutsville, MO formerly of Boody, IL died at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday (October 17, 2012) at Kindred Hospital in Springfield, IL.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Sunday at the Lockart-Green Funeral Home, Beecher City, IL. Visitation will be from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. Saturday. Burial will be in the Lorton Cemetery, Cowden, IL with military rites by the Shelby County Honor Guard. Memorials may be made to the Monroe County, MO Cancer Group or the American Cancer Society.

He was born April 17, 1942 in Boody, IL the son of Roy and Ethel (Hedrick) Lorton. He married Christina SuEllen Rosborough August 1, 1962 in Blue Mound, IL.

He graduated from Blue Mound High School in 1961, served in the U.S, Marines, was a member of the Macon Masonic Lodge and Ansar Shrine in Springfield. He worked at Caterpillar for 30 years retiring in 1995. He loved to fish.

Surviving are his wife of 50 years, Christina SuEllen; children, Sherry Lorton (Sandy East) of Champaign, IL, Michelle McDaniel (Matthew) of Carl Junction, MO and Michael Lorton of Las Vegas, NV; grandchildren, Ashley Story (Dan) of Asbury, MO, Hayley Ward and Lyndsie Lorton of Carl Junction, MO; great-grandchildren, Lane Story and Arizona Story of Asbury, MO; brother, John Lorton ofMentor, OH; sisters, Marlene O’Donnell of Decatur and Nell Petty (Dennis) of Beecher City, nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Roy and Ethel Lorton, son, Bradley Joe Lorton, sisters, Hilda Adams and Ellen Scammahorn and brother, Paul Dean Lorton.
