Mary Lou Lake, 79, of Pana was greeted by her Savior Jesus as she left this life for her heavenly home at 2:43 p.m. Sunday (June 6, 2010) at Memorial Medical Center, Springfield.

She was born on October 3, 1930 in Assumption to Nathan Thomas and Gladys (Ruff) Skiff. She married Robert Lake on May 26, 1978 in Decatur and he preceded her in death October 20, 2006.

They loved to fish. Mom was an avid reader and painter. Many people have purchased and enjoyed her paintings for years. Her service with Government Agencies began at the Signal Depot in Decatur until it closed and ended years later when she retired from the Social Security Administration.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and sister, M. Jean Skiff Tull. Mary Lou is survived by 3 daughters, Rexanna (Roger) Murphy, Debra Betterton and Cindy (Joe) Carter; 1 son, Michael (Barbara) Hendlin; 2 step-daughters, Diane Gossett and Becky Gentry; 18 grandchildren; 38 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-granddaughter; aunt, Betty Ruff Patrick; niece, Annie Tull (Ronnie) Palakie.

Graveside services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday (June 12, 2010) at the Glenwood Cemetery, Shelbyville. Following the service a celebration will be held at Pana Lake.
