Norma Jean Johnson 83, of Windsor, IL, formerly of Mattoon, IL, passed away at 10:07 AM Saturday May 24, 2014 in Shelby Memorial Hospital in Shelbyville, IL.

Jean was born April 28, 1931 at Tompkinsville, KY the daughter of Osiber Hamilton and Vida Ann Brown Goad.

She married James Edwin Johnson on Oct. 30, 1948 in Sullivan, IL.They were married for 65 years.

Jean was employed for fourteen years at Ampad Paper Co. in Mattoon, IL and then retired on Jan. 3, 2003.Previously, she worked at Crawford Shoe Co. in Mattoon and Mattoon Garment Factory.

Jean was a member of Windsor Christian Church, and before that she was a member, and sang in the choir, of First Assembly of God (now the Fields Church) in Mattoon for over 50 years.

In 1989, at the age of 59, she received a G.E.D. of which she was very proud.

Her family meant everything to her.Surviving are her husband , Jim; children: Jack (Janice) Johnson of Mattoon, Joyce Johnson of Mattoon, Joey (Darlene) Johnson of Windsor and Julie (Rob) LeCrone of Windsor; grandchildren: Joshua (Cindy) Johnson of Lake Jackson, TX, Jennifier (Anthony) Parker of Mattoon, J.R. ( Gwen) Johnson of McCordsville, IN, Jeremiah (Rachel) Johnson of Windsor and Joanna (Chad) Rogers of North Aurora, IL; twelve great grandchildren; four step great grandchildren; and four step great great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents and a sister Frances Duncan.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM Wednesday May 28, 2014 in Windsor Christian Church of Windsor, IL.Rev. Jeff Brookins and Rev. Richard Eident will officiate.Visitation will be from 4:00-7:00 PM Tuesday in the Church.Burial will be in Sand Creek Cemetery near Windsor.Memorials:Windsor Christian Church of Windsor, IL or the Fields Church of Mattoon.
