Harriet G. James, 90, of Decatur formerly of Shelbyville and Cerro Gordo passed away at 6:00 p.m. Tuesday (April 14, 2015) at her residence.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday in the Lockart-Green Funeral Home, Shelbyville with Pastor Ron Tucker officiating. Visitation will be one hour before service time. Burial will be in Glenwood Cemetery, Shelbyville. Memorials may be made to the Moundford Free Methodist Church, 1803 E Mound Rd, PO Box 2018, Decatur, IL 62524.
She was born April 10, 1925 in Decatur the daughter of Alick and Jeanette (Simpson) Bledsoe. She married Wilmoth “Bill” James August 22, 1954 in Decatur and he preceded her in death November 3, 2006.
She was a member of the Moundford Free Methodist Church and the Red Hat Club. She was formerly employed at the US Army Corp of Engineers campgrounds and was a caregiver for several people. She enjoyed flower gardening and collected angels and butterflies.
Surviving are her children, Michael David Thomas (Janice), Patricia Ellen Taylor (Bob), Carol Ann Patrick (companion, C.D. Popman and Carl Alick James all of Decatur, John Edward James (Patty) of Shelbyville; sister, Norma Carter of Springfield; 7 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren and 4 great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, three brothers and one grandchild.
