Gerald W. “Rad” Hudson, 84, of Shelbyville died at 11:13 a.m. Friday (June 1, 2012 at the Springfield Memorial Hospital.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday in Glenwood Cemetery, Shelbyville. Visitation will be from 9:00 a.m. until service time at Lockart-Green Funeral Home, Shelbyville. Military rites will be by the Shelby County Honor Guard. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or the Heart Fund.
He was born October 10, 1927 in Shelbyville the son of Roy W and Edith (Barker) Hudson. He married Agnes Laverne Funderburk January 20, 1951 in Shelbyville and she preceded him in death April 23, 1995.
He owned Hudson Construction for 30 Years and the Queen City Laundry for 12 years. He served in the US Army and was a member of VFW Post 4829, American Legion and Moose Lodge in Shelbyville.
Surviving are daughters, Candice Matheny of Shelbyville and Debbie Christman of Ava; grandchildren, Jackie Harrison, Heather Ebers, Jamie Wallis, Theron Christman and Joshua Matheny; great-grandchildren, Page and Austin Ebers, Seth ,Tyler and Arika Wallis, Eric Harrison, Caylee and Colton Christman and Logan Satterfield Matheny; brothers, Wendell Hudson of Apache Junction, AZ, and Harry Hudson of Shelbyville; sister, Barbara Jean Doss of Indianapolis, IN; special friend, Charlene Campbell of Shelbyville.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, daughter, Donna, great-grandchild Hannah Wallis, brothers, Robert Hudson, Donald Hudson and Dale Hudson, sisters, Loraine Nees, Mary Martz, half-sisters, Agnes Alday, Ruth Gatons, Velma Hudson, Thelma Hudson and Myrtle Hudson.
