Margaret E. (Barr) Halbrook, 79, of Nokomis, IL, formerly of Tower Hill IL and Shelbyville, IL, passed away at 12:25 AM Saturday Nov. 15, 2014 in St. Johns Hospital in Springfield, IL.Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Wednesday Nov. 19, 2014 in Lockart-Green Funeral Home in Shelbyville.Visitation will be from 10:00 AM until the time of the service on Wednesday in the Funeral Home.Burial will be in Tower Hill Cemetery, Tower Hill, IL.Memorials may be made to the American Diabetes Association or the Senior Citizensí Thrift Store.On line

Margaret was born June 16, 1935 in Westervelt, IL, youngest of nine children to Harry and Anna Belle Forbes Barr and she was the proud mother of seven children.

She attended Westervelt High School.Margaret later obtained her G.E.D. and then completed training to become a Certified Nursing Assistant.For over 8 years she worked on the long-term wing of Shelby Memorial Hospital. She loved her job at the hospital and was known for giving wonderful care to her patients and being a loyal and efficient employee.She went beyond the call of duty by bringing joy to her patients and their families with her colorful stories and, occasionally, dressing up in costume at the holidays to bring laughter and joy to all. She always enjoyed to going auctions and sales.

She will always be remembered for her colorful life stories, strong will and personality.She lived her life with honesty and integrity.She raised her children to have a strong work ethic.She loved by her family, and especially looked forward to visits by her grandchildren and their children.When problems came up, she was always there to offer her very distinct brand of advice.She will always be missed by her family and all who knew her.

Margaret married Derald Ginger of Niantic, IL and from that union there were born four children: Derald M. Ginger of Tower Hill, Carl W. (Chris) Ginger of Decatur, IL, Edith L. (Ginger) Perry of Pana, IL and Lawrence D. Perry (deceased).She later married Joe Killebrew of Hillview, IL and from that union were born daughters: Sarah (Killebrew) Jennings and Angela Killebrew.She later married Elmer Pope of Herrick, IL and to that union was born Jackie L. (John) Pope-Ganser.She married Roger Halbrook and they were married for 40 years and he survives.Also surviving are grandchildren: Heath, Tommy, Hayley, Nolan, Cheyenne, Angela, Weston, Carl Jr., Casey, Tony, Danny, Sarah, Beth and Maggie; great grandchildren: Ben, Mallorie, Dalton, Quinton, Kadence, Mackenzie, Adrianne, Keatin, Steven, Scott, Emma, Dakota, Hunter and Allija and sister Laura Perry of Shelbyville.

Margaret is preceded in death by a son Lawrence D. Perry siblings: Daniel Barr, William Barr, Jess Barr, Stenson Barr, Edith Fleming, Mary Perry and Mabel Stuckey and great grandson Koalton.
