Franklin C. “Frankie” Gordon 81, of Effingham, IL, formerly of Cowden, IL, passed away at 6:10 PM Saturday July 12, 2014 in St. Anthony’s Memorial Hospital in Effingham, IL.

Frank was born Feb. 11, 1933 in Shelby County, IL the son of Everett and Louester Giles Gordon.

He farmed his land and enjoyed raising horses. He worked at Caterpillar Tractor Co. in Decatur, IL for many years until retirement.

Frank honorably served his country in the United States Navy during the Korean War aboard the destroyer the U.S.S. Gurke 783.

Surviving are his sons: Wayne (DeAnna) Gordon of Cowden and Darrell ( Donna, deceased) Gordon of Effingham, IL; grandchildren: Renia (Aaron) Holley, Matt (Stephanie) Gordon, Dylan Gordon, Tyler (Brandi) Gordon and Myka Gordon; five great grandchildren; brothers and sisters: Jean Pete) Richards of Cowden, Larry Gordon of Beecher City, Jim (Christine) Gordon of Beecher City and Gary (Glenna) Gordon of Beecher City; sister-in-law Ethel Gordonof Cowden; many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers: Leroy Gordon, Stanley Gordon, Dale Gordon, Morris Dean Gordon in infancy and sister-in-law Diana Gordon.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 AM Thursday July 17, 2014 in Lockart-Green Funeral Home in Cowden.Pastor Nathan Harper will officiate.Visitation will be from 5:00-7:00 PM Wednesday in the funeral home.Burial will be in Hubbartt Cemetery near Beecher City.
