Julie Marie Gillespey, 51, of Mode passed away at 4:45 p.m. Sunday (February 16, 2014) at her residence.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday in the Brummerstedt Funeral Home, Stewardson with Pastor Kathy Lewis officiating. Visitation will be from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday. Burial will be in the Stewardson Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the family for medical expenses.

Julie was born June 24, 1962 in Mattoon the daughter of Charles and Barbara Ann (Kortte) Ferris. She married James Earl Gillespey, Jr., December 15, 1991 in Stewardson.

Julie was a member of the Mode United Methodist Church, NRA, American Quarter Horse Association and a volunteer member of the Stewardson Fire Department for ten years. She was employed at McDonalds in Shelbyville for 18 years starting as a grill cook and working her way to bookkeeper and head of Customer Relations Service. She was active in 4-H and loved dogs, horses, goats and took in all stray animals. She also was an avid St. Louis Cardinal fan.

Surviving are her husband, Jim; son, Matthew Robert Prosser (Whitney) of Shelbyville; daughters, Lindsey Prosser of Stewardson and Sara Gillespey of Effingham; grandchildren, Noah and Cruz Prosser of Shelbyville; brother, Kenneth Ferris (Melissa) of Stewardson; nephew, Nicholas Ferris and niece, Kennedy Ferris of Stewardson.

She was preceded in death by her parents.
