Harold W. Giesler 85 of Shumway, IL, passed away at 9:20 AM Wednesday Jan. 25, 2012 in St. Anthonyís Memorial Hospital in Effingham, IL.

Mr. Giesler was born Aug. 17, 1926 in Whitley Twp., Moultrie Co., IL the son of William and Mildred (Kleimeier) Giesler.

Harold was united in holy matrimony to Ruby Elinor Miller on June 30, 1951 at St. Paulís Lutheran Church at rural Wheeler, IL.

Harold was a lifelong farmer and worked at Direct Lines where he delivered the United States mail to various community post offices in Illinois.

He was a member of St. Johnís Lutheran Church in Effingham, IL.He served his country twice: in the United States Navy and the United States Air Force during WWII and the Korean War.He, also, was an artist, cook, carpenter, builder, gardener, wood worker, good neighbor, father, husband and conservationist.

Surviving are his wife Ruby; children: Ronald Eugene Giesler of Shumway, IL, Kathy Marlene Giesler of Effingham, IL and Mark Edwin Giesler of Shumway, IL; grandchild Lora Victoria Giesler; brother Morris(Roberta) Giesler of Vancouver, WA; sister-in-law Edith Giesler of Altamont, IL and many nieces and nephews,

He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers: Don Giesler and Calvin Giesler and his wife Gloria Faye.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM Monday Jan. 30, 2012 in St. Johnís Lutheran Church ( 901 W. Jefferson Ave.) in Effingham, IL. Pastor Ted Gaul will officiate assisted by Assistant Pastor Earl Brown. Visitation will be from 9:00 AM Monday until time of the service at the Church. Burial will be in Stewardson Cemetery, Stewardson, IL. Military rites will be by Stewardson American Legion Post #611. Memorials can be made to Concordia Seminary in St. Louis, MO, the Lutheran Care Center in Altamont, IL or the Braille Society at St. Johnís Lutheran Church in Effingham.Arrangements are entrusted to Brummerstedt Funeral Home in Stewardson, IL.
