William Forrest Getz, 90 of Findlay, IL passed away at 6:15 PM Sunday May 22, 2011 in the Shelbyville Manor in Shelbyville, Il.

Forrest was born July 28, 1920 in Shelby County, IL near Robinson Creek, the son of William Simon and Clara Salmons Getz

.

He married Betty Mitchell on Sept. 16, 1939 in Webster Grove, MO.

Forrest was actively engaged in grain and livestock farming until the last four years of

his life.He was mechanically gifted with the vision and skills of welding and design that

enabled him to create any device or apparatus to make completion any agriculture task a

possibility.He could fix anything.

He was an outdoorsman who loved to hunt and fish and was an accomplished citizens band radio technician.He served as an auxiliary deputy with the Shelby County Sheriff’s

Department for several years.

Forrest was entered as a master mason of the Masonic Lodge #831 A.F. & A.M. of

Findlay and later became a member of Jackson Lodge #53 A.F. & A.M. of Shelbyville.

He nurtured his five sons and grandson Jody in Masonic work and they all became master masons in the Findlay Masonic Lodge.

Surviving is his wife, Betty; sons, Bill Getz and wife Tammy of Winter Haven, FL, Jack

Getz and wife Linda of Findlay, Mike Getz and wife Jill of Gurnee, IL ,Jim Getz and wife Rita of McHenry, IL and Denny Getz and wife Ivakay of Findlay; grandchildren: Greg Getz and wife Laurie, Brad Getz and wife Jaclyn, Jeff Getz and wife Judy, Jody Getz and wife Jenna, Kristin Fiduccia and husband Vinnie, Erin Ward and husband Patrick, Chris Getz , Sarah Miller and husband Brian and Lowell H. Getz; great grandchildren; Corey Getz and wife Whitney, Ashley Getz and fiancée Nick Birkey. Landon Getz, Lane Getz, Madison Getz, Sydney Fiduccia, Braden Miller, Brycen Miller, McKenzie Getz, McAllister Getz and Madysen Getz; great great granddaughter Riley Getz whose arrival will be soon; several step-grandchildren and step great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Floyd Getz, sister, Zelma Lidster; two nieces and one nephew.

Masonic funeral rites will be performed by Jackson Lodge #53 A.F. & A.M. of

Shelbyville at 2:30 PM Friday in Lockart –Green Funeral Home in Findlay. Visitation will be from 12:30 PM until time of the services on Friday.Burial will be in Findlay Cemetery.Memorials can be made to the Resident Activity Fund of the Shelbyville Manor.
