Betty Jean Getz, 90, of Findlay, IL, passed away at 5:42 PM Thursday July 12, 2012 in Shelby Memorial Hospital in Shelbyville, IL.

Funeral services will be held at 11:30 AM Tuesday July 17, 2012 in Lockart-Green Funeral Home in Findlay.Pastor Tim Moon will officiate.Visitation will from 10:00 AM until time of the service on Tuesday.Burial will be in Findlay Cemetery.Memorials can be made to the Garden Court of the Shelbyville Manor.On line condolences may be directed to the Family at www.lockartgreenfuneralhome.com

Betty was born January 25, 1922 at Todds Point, Shelby County, IL the daughter of Edd and Melba Saylor Mitchell.

Betty was a loving farmwife and homemaker. She married William Forrest Getz Sept. 16, 1939 in Webster Grove, MO and he passed away May 22, 2011.They were married for 71 years.

Betty was a graduate of Findlay High School in the Class of 1939.She, formerly, was a member of the Shelby County Home Extension and the Church of Christ of Findlay.She was a talented cook, and enjoyed experimenting with new recipes for her family and friends. She was well known for her marvelous homemade pies.

Surviving are five sons: Bill Getz and wife Tammy of Winter Haven FL, Jack Getz and wife Linda of Findlay, Mike Getz and wife Jill of Gurnee, IL, Jim Getz and wife Rita of McHenry, IL and Denny Getz and wife Ivakay of Findlay; nine grandchildren: Greg Getz, Brad Getz, Jeff Getz, Jody Getz, Kristin Fiduccia, Erin Ward, Chris Getz, Sarah Miller and Lowell H. Getz; eleven great grandchildren and one great great granddaughter.

She was preceded in death by her husband Forrest and her parents.

Betty’s family would like to thank all of the staff members of the Garden Court at the Shelbyville Manor for all of the love and exceptional care given to Betty when she needed it most.It will never be forgotten.
