Charles Kenneth Ferris, 71, of Stewardson died at 9:10 a.m. Thursday (April 15, 2010) at his residence.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday in the Trinity Lutheran Church, Stewardson with Pastor Richard Bremer officiating. Visitation will be from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Monday in the Brummerstedt Funeral Home, Stewardson. Burial will be in the Swedish Lutheran Cemetery near Strasburg. Memorials may be made to the Trinity Lutheran School.

Mr. Ferris was born May 5, 1938 in Neoga the son of Cleo and Alma (Mehl) Ferris.

He was retired from Young Radiator in Mattoon and the Conservation Department of the State of Illinois. Charles served his country in the United States Marines Corps from June 26, 1957 to June 24, 1963. He received the good conduct medal and the rank of Corporal E4.

He was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church, Stewardson, Stewardson American Legion Post and the Effingham Marine Corps League.

Charles is survived by two children, Julie Gillespey (Jim) of Mode and Kenneth Ferris (Melissa) of Stewardson. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Matthew Prosser of Shelbyville, Lindsey Prosser of Mode, Sara Gillespey of Mode, Nicholas and Kennedy Ferris of Stewardson, great grandson, Noah Prosser of Shelbyville and one brother, Bill Ferris (Nancy) of Neoga.
