Marjorie Elizabeth Enoch 96, of Findlay, IL, passed away at 9:23 AM Wednesday Dec.22, 2010 in Decatur Memorial Hospital in Decatur, IL
Marjorie was born Sept. 20, 1914 in Villa Grove, IL the daughter of Rollin and Daisy Fink Rine.
She married Woodrow E. Enoch in Villa Grove, IL on June 8, 1940 and he passed away Jan. 7, 1992.
Marjorie graduated from the University of Illinois in 1936 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in music.She began her teaching career in a one room school house and taught grade school for 25 years at Tower Hill, IL and Findlay.
She was a an activemember of the Christian Church of Findlay, Eastern Star Lodge of Findlay, Shelby County Home Extension, the Flying Farmers of America and the Retired Teacher Association.She loved music and played both the piano and the violin.She traveled to 49 states and enjoyed several bus trips which she helped arrange for Shelby County Home Extension. Marjorie was an avid fan of University of Illinois Sports and the St. Louis Cardinals.On her 95th birthday she attended a Cardinal game in Busch Stadium in St. Louis, MO.
Surviving are her children: Sheila Griffith and husband Cecil of Decatur, IL, Sherry Swanson and husband John of Plymouth, MN and Kathleen Waggoner of Shelbyville; grandchildren: Renee Spencer and husband John, Allyson Griffith, Todd Swanson, Jonathan Swanson, Lindsay Wall and husband Corey, Ashton Waggoner and friend Erica Ochs, and Tennille Waggoner; great grandchildren: Gabrielle Spencer, Alyssa Spencer, Joshua Morthland and Sarah Morthland sister Kathryn Beystehner of Decatur, IL; and two great grand dogs Ruby and Dozer.
Marjorie was preceded in death by her husband Woodrow, her parents Rollin and Daisy Fink Rine and granddaughter Jennifer Swanson Morthland.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 AM Tuesday Dec. 28, 2010 in the Christian Church in Findlay. Pastor Richard Hargrave will officiate. Visitation will be from 3:00-7:00 PM Monday in Lockart-Green Funeral Home in Shelbyville and from 9:30 AM until time of service on Tuesday in the Church.Eastern Star services will be held at 7:00 PM Monday in the funeral home.Burial will be in Findlay Cemetery.Memorials can be made to the Christian Church of Findlay Youth Fund, Findlay Ambulance Serviceor the Shriner`s Children’s Hospitals.On line condolences may be directed to the family at lockartgreenfuneralhome.com
Marjorie had a zest for life and she touched many lives.She will be missed by her precious family, many friends, colleagues and former students.
