Howard Lester Dunaway, 83, of Cowden passed away at 2:33 a.m. Tuesday (May 13, 2014) at his residence.

Funeral services will be held at 6:00 p.m. Saturday in the Lockart-Green Funeral Home, Cowden with Pastor Nathan Harper officiating. Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. until service time. Burial will be at a later date. Memorials may be made to the Cowden First Responders.

He was born November 13, 1930 in Holland Twp, Shelby County the son of Franklin Howard and Freda Madonna (Sloan) Dunaway. He married Lenore S. Harrison June 9, 1952 in Wichita Falls, TX.

He was a retired farmer, served in the US Air Force during the Korean War and formerly a member of the Masonic Lodge in Cowden

Surviving are his wife, Lenore; children, Gary Howard Dunaway (Kathy) of Yorktown, VA, Steven Lee Dunaway (Betty) of Peoria, Edward Allen Dunaway (Susan) of Lakeside, AZ, Karen Sue Riley (Ralph, Jr.) of Altamont and Kathy Jo Shea (Dave) of Warsaw, VA; sister-in-laws, Katherine West and Lois Dunaway of Cowden; brother-in-law, Dale Dillier of Greenup; 14 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, grandson, Jason, brother, Gerald Dunaway and sister, Norma Dillier.
