On Thursday July 2, 2015, the world lost a member of the greatest generation as Everett E. Drummond, 91, of Gays passed away at 2:58 a.m. at the Mattoon Rehabilitation and Health Care Center.

Funeral services will be held at 12:00 p.m. Monday at the Lovins-Lockart Funeral Home, Windsor with Rev. Jim Dona officiating. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until service time. Burial will be in Branchside Cemetery, Gays with military rites. Memorials may be made to the Lincolnland Hospice.

Everett was born March 30, 1924 at Sexson Corner the son of Francis Marion and Lura Ruth (Henderson) Drummond. He married Geraldine F. Bolen April 20, 1946 in Sullivan.

Everett attended Gays schools and served in the Army Air Corp during WW II in the Pacific Theatre as a member of the 820th Bomb Squadron. He spent 2 years, 2 months and 19 days overseas. He was formerly employed at Garwoods in Mattoon and owned EE Drummond Trucking Services. He was a member of the Ash Grove Christian Church, Windsor American Legion, Teamsters Local # 26 in Champaign and served as Whitley Township Road Commissioner. He enjoyed country music and spending time with family and friends.

Surviving are his wife, Geraldine; children, Carolyn Drummond of Mattoon, Jerry Drummond (Sue) of Neoga, Peggy Giertz (Michael) of Gays and David Drummond (Michelle) of Minooka; brothers, Francis Drummond (Ruth Ann) of Kirksville and Glenn Drummond (Alice) of Mattoon; 9 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by brother, Robert Drummond, sister, Ivadeen Salmons and one grandson, Jordan Giertz.
