Betty Mae Drees, 83 of Beecher City passed away at 4:30 a.m. Thursday (February 16, 2012) at St. Anthony’s Hospital in Effingham.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Monday in the Lockart-Green Funeral Home, Beecher City with Peewee Denton officiating. Visitation will be from 3:00 to 6:00 p.m. Sunday. Burial will be in Springhill Cemetery near Wright’s Corner. Memorials may be made to the Springhill Cemetery Fund or the Friendship Manor in St. Elmo.

She was born July 27, 1928 in Shelby County the daughter of Vernon and Donna (Carlisle) Dilley. She married Bernard E. Drees April 9, 1949 in Shelbyville and he preceded her in death March 6, 1989.

She was a homemaker and helped her husband in farming. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of St. Elmo.

Betty was an excellent seamstress and enjoyed gardening, traveling out west with her husband, and was known for her beef and noodles. She loved her family and especially cherished her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Surviving are her children, Gary (Janet) Flora, Dan (Jacabeth) Drees, Connie (Randy) Baker and Donna “Jeanie” (Paul) Yagow all of Beecher City; grandchildren, Chris Flora, Danielle Coclasure, Jason Drees, Scott Yagow, Bryan Yagow and Brandi Yagow; step-grandchildren, Shae Schuler and Valerie Lybarger; nine great-grandchildren; brothers and sisters, Bruce Dilley, Mark Dilley, Kay Thompson, Peggy Washburn and Vernon (Speed) Dilley; many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Vernon Dilley and Donna Montooth; step-father, Arnold Montooth; step-mother, Rosemary Dilley; husband, Bernard Drees; granddaughter, Cindy Drees; brothers, Chuck Dilley and Larry Dilley and sister, Mary Ann Sefton.
