Calvert, Cody Taylor
Age 23, passed away unexpectedly in Mesa, Arizona on April 8, 2014. Cody was born in Lansing, Michigan on March 19, 1991 to parents Jay Calvert and Wendy Calvert (Matson). Wendy is the daughter of Hillard and Lois Matson of Beecher City. Cody spent his childhood in Lincoln, Nebraska until 1994, Ledyard, Connecticut until 2003, and Otsego, Michigan until 2009. He developed a very early fascination with computers and electronic devices, and excelled at repairing and rebuilding them. Cody was active in Cub Scouts and Webelos, and had a life-long affinity for animals and the outdoors. He shared his father’s hobby of model rocketry, and competed successfully in national contests. He also enjoyed fishing with his Dad, catching his first fish (a 5 pound carp) at the age of three. Cody enjoyed taking photographs, often preferring to be behind the camera rather than in front. After reaching 16, his interests expanded to include automobiles and audio equipment. He also attended many weekend-long “LAN Parties”, networking with his fellow computer geeks. After graduating from high school and reaching age 18 Cody, who was always fiercely independent, struck out on his own to get away from the harsh Michigan winters and the repressed job market. He moved to Texas, and later to Arizona, to pursue a career in computers. He held a number of jobs, including tier 3 technical support for AT&T internet bundles. Cody is survived by parents and brother Alex Calvert (Otsego, Michigan), grandparents Lois Matson (Shumway), David Calvert (Galena, Illinois), and Mary Ann Calvert (Suwanee, Georgia), as well as dozens of aunts, uncles, cousins, and second cousins. Cody’s spark burned out far too soon, and he will be forever missed by those who loved him.
