Phillip Wesley “Fishing Pole” Bulla, 73, of Findlay, IL, passed away at 3:03 a.m. Thursday (July 10, 2014) at the Sullivan Rehabilitation Health Center.
He was born August 24, 1940 in Decatur, IL the son of Rev. Raymond Earl and Cleo Gertrude (Sturgeon ) Bulla.
He married Janice Faye Scott June 24, 1961 in Findlay, IL.
Phillip graduated from Mt. Zion High School and then attended Lakeland College in Mattoon, IL.
Phillip was a devout Christian.He, formerly, was a Deacon at Fellowship Baptist Church in Shelbyville and was a founding Deacon of Bible Baptist Church in Dunn, IL.
He was a truck driver and a member of the Teamsters Union Local in Springfield, IL.
He was an avid fisherman, handyman and a talented woodworker. He often served as a tutor and mentor for students at Findlay Elementary School.
Surviving are his wife Janice; children: Angela (Frankie) Rich of Findlay, James (Alice) Bulla of Findlay, Sue Ann (Joseph Sr.) Hecker of Elsinore, MO, Patricia Bulla of Findlay and Jerrold (Sharon) Bulla of Charleston, IL; grandchildren: Wesley (Crystal) Rich, Raymond Rich, Colt (Allison) Rich, Joseph (Faith) Hecker Jr., Shane (Kimberly) Hecker, Ashley (Joshua) Finney, Shawna Urban and Michael Urban; great grandchildren: Jozlynn Rich, Gabrielle Rich, Keigen Rich, Joseph Hecker III, Jerrika Hecker, soon to be born, Jennifer Hecker, Jace Hecker, Fayth Hecker, Jeremiah Finney and Annora Finney; brother, Corwin Bulla of Decatur, IL and sister, Judith (Rev. Joe) Eaton of McKenzie, TN; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Virgil (Donna) Scott of Springfield, VA and Gene (Sharon) Shelton of St. Elmo, IL ; many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, mother-in-law and father-in-law Ellis and Ollie Mae Scott.
