Pauline Briney 90, of Findlay, IL, passed away Saturday July 25, 2015 in Mason Point in Sullivan, IL.

Pauline was born Sept. 25, 1924 in Sullivan, IL the daughter of Ora and Dessie Colclasure Colclasure.

She married Ronald Marcus “Bud” Briney on May 3, 1941 in St. Charles, MO and he passed away on Oct. 17, 1974.

Pauline attended Sullivan, IL public schools.Soon thereafter, she became a licensed beautician.Later, in her early adult life, Pauline decided it was time to get her G. E. D., and she did.She then went on to obtain her real estate license.

She had an inquisitive and insightful mind.She was a lover of the written and spoken word. Pauline was a contributing correspondent for several local newspapers.They included the Findlay Enterprise (writing the column “Methinks”), Moultrie County News and the Shelby County News. She wrote poetry. Sheauthored and published several essays and several local history and family history books.

She saw the world around her, wanted to be involved and thought she could make a difference.She did.

Pauli ne was a staunch Democrat and was passionate about her town, Findlay, IL. She was elected mayor for two terms. Pauline worked endlessly as mayor to make Findlay and the Findlay area all it could be. She was instrumental in the initial effort to launch Eagle Creek Resort and, even in her final days, was pursuing its rebirth.

Pauline was a member of Faith Covenant Church and the Clarence Bixler American Legion Post #409 Women’s Auxiliary both of Findlay.

Pauline is survived by her children: Connie Robinson of Sullivan and Kathy Martin of Springfield, IL; five grandchildren; eleven great grandchildren; five great great grandchildren; sisters: Margie (Joe) Milchman of Effingham, IL and Corma Cox of Cambria, IL and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, brother Gerald; sisters: Wilma, Lucille, Erma and Rosie and son-in-law Barry Martin.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 AM Wednesday July 29, 2015 in Lockart-Green Funeral Home in Findlay.Pastor Mike Reynolds and Pastor Kerry Cox will officiate.Visitation will be held from 4:00-7:00 PM Tuesday in the funeral home.Burial will be in Wright Cemetery near Findlay.Memorials can be made in Pauline’s memory to Faith Covenant Church or to Clarence Bixler American Legion Post #409.On line condolences may directed to the Family at
