After a long struggle with pulmonary fibrosis, Ronald Carl Brandt, 69, of Beecher City passed with his family at his side at 1:15 p.m. Saturday (March 14, 2015) at Sarah Bush Lincoln Health Care Center, Coles County.

Ronald was born on June 8, 1945 in Effingham County to Floyd and Evelyn (Cutler) Brandt.

He was known for his woodworking and cabinet building skills. He enjoyed times with his family and friends and liked to attend auctions.

He married Irene Duckwitz on April 18, 1965 at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Altamont.

He is survived by his wife, Irene; sons Duane (Gail) Brandt of Shumway and Shane Brandt of Beecher City; grandchildren, Kelly (Justin) Peddycoart of Effingham, Derek Brandt (fiancée, Haylee Conkling) of Altamont, Lacey Brandt (friend, Doug Krueger) of Shumway, Zane Brandt and his brother Steven (Elizabeth) Hartke and their children, Alaina and Carter of Beecher City; great-grandson, Chase Peddycoart. Also surviving are his brother, Stanley Brandt; sister-in-law, Lucille Beccue of Altamont, Jeanette (Ed) Brown of Altamont and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, sister, Judelle Strauch, brother-in-law, Harold Beccue, father-in-law and mother-in-law Martin and Edna Duckwitz, three nieces and some great-nieces and a great nephew.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday in the Faith Lutheran Church, Shumway with Pastor Jason Rensner officiating. Visitation will be from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. Thursday at the Lockart-Green Funeral Home, Beecher City and one hour before service time at the church. Private family burial will be in Hubbartt Cemetery near Beecher City. Memorials may be made to the Pulmonary Fibrosis Foundation, American Lung Association or donor’s choice.
