James W. Bliler
James W. Bliler, passed peacefully on October 4, 2010. He was born July 1, 1931 in Mosquito Township, Macon County, Illinois to Edmund and Haldene (Scott) Bliler. Jim was married on December 26, 1953 to Virginia Nell, (nee Cooper).He graduated from Illiopolis High School in 1949.He earned his undergraduate degree from the University of Illinois in 1953 and later received his masterís from there in guidance and counseling.Jim served in the Army, in Fort Knox, KY, as a Captain.He moved to Shelbyville in 1962 and worked for many years as Principal, Assistant Superintendent, Guidance Counselor, and Director of Special Education, for Shelbyville schools.
Jim served as an elder and Sunday School teacher at the Shelbyville Disciples of Christ Church and later was a member of the Cornerstone Community Fellowship Church.He was a long time member of the Shelby County Mental Health Board.
He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Nell, children Jamie Hirt and Scott (Terry) Bliler, all of Mundelein, granddaughters Emily, Lucy, Jessica, and Polly, sister Rosaline (Ray) McKeever of Illiopolis, sisters-in-law Mimi Kmetz and Marilyn Bliler, as well as several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers William, Haldon, and Herbert, and his son-in-law, Joseph Hirt.
Jim had a deep faith in Jesus Christ and loved serving the church body.His family was very important to him, especially his granddaughters.He loved spending time on the lake, reading and golfing.
A memorial service will be held on Monday, October 11 at Cornerstone Community Fellowship Church in Shelbyville at 11:00am.The graveside service will be private.
