Belva Rose Bird, 81, formerly of Herrick passed away Monday (April 5, 2010) in the Pekin Hospital.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday in the Lockart-Green Funeral Home, Cowden with Rev. Tim Boyd officiating. Visitation will be one hour before service time. Burial will be in Mound Cemetery, Cowden. Memorials may be made to the American Lung Association.
She was born November 26, 1928 in Fayette County the daughter of Wilbur “Skinny” and Margie (Black) Rich. She married Jennings Bryan Bird, Sr. May 14, 1948 in Shelbyville and he preceded her in death August 6, 1992.
She was a member of the Baptist Church. She was formerly employed and Caterpillar and Venture in Peoria, Mallory’s in Pana and helped the elderly in later years.
Surviving is son, Jennings B. Bird, Jr. of Peoria and daughter, Kathy Lynn Tennison of Texas.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, daughter, Denise and brothers, Leroy and Robert Rich.
