Edith Blondell Bennett, age 95, of Windsor, passed away at 6:30 p.m. on Sunday, December 25, 2011 at her home surrounded by her loving family.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, December 28, 2011 at Windsor Christian Church with the Reverend Richard Coen officiating. Burial will be at Ash Grove Cemetery near Windsor. Visitation will be 5 to 8 p.m. tonight, Tuesday, December 27, 2011 at Lovins-Lockart Funeral Home, Windsor.
Blondell was born July 12, 1916 in rural Windsor, the daughter of Nettie Ferguson Paulson and William Paulson. She married William Dean Bennett on August 21, 1941 in Maplewood, MO.
Survivors include her husband, Dean; Son, William Lee Bennett and wife Linda of Windsor, Robert Dean Bennett and wife Linda of Strasburg, Daughter Bonnie Sue Powers and husband John of Windsor; Nine grandchildren, Eric (Amanda) Bennett of Sullivan, Brian (Sally) Bennett of Freeport, Brigit (Chad) Smith of Stewardson, Josh (Mindy) Bennett of Rochester, Jill (Keeley) Rogers of Charleston, Steve (Wendy) Bennett of Charleston, Alex Powers of Niantic, Lindsay (Ben) Richter of Sullivan, and Megan Powers of Windsor; and 14 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents and brother, Virgil Paulson.
Blondell served as bookkeeper and partner in their business, Bennett Tire Company until their family came along. At that time she became a full time homemaker. Blondell taught Sunday School and did volunteer work at Fair Haven and Heartland Village nursing homes. She also helped with Peace Meals and various committees related to Windsor Christian Church, of which she was a member.
Blondell was a wonderful wife, mother and grandmother. The love of her life was family, flowers, and nature.
