Ruby Eileen (Moats) Barnes, 79, of rural Shelbyville, IL, formerly of the Decatur, IL area, passed away at 6:30 PM SundayAugust 19, 2012 in Hickory Point Christian Village in Forsythe, IL.

Ruby was born April 2, 1933 in Decatur, IL the daughter of Harold and Cecilia Mosser Moats.

She married Robert Dean Barnes on April 2, 1951 in Decatur, IL and he passed away May 5, 2009.

Anyone that knew the old J.C.Penney store in downtown Decatur, knew Ruby.She was always the one who decorated all of the windows that surrounded the store.When the store moved to Hickory Point Mall, she went to work for Black and Company until her retirement. She was as wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother sister and aunt.

Surviving are a son Robert Barnes and wife Nyla Peyton of Oakley, IL; daughter Roberta Moomey of Decatur; granddaughters: Mandy Ducey and husband Jake of Punta Gorda, FL, Kristin Moomey of Chicago, IL. Margaret Moomey and fiancé Eric Marler of Decatur and Michelle Moomey of Decatur; step-grandchildren: Daryl Jackson and wife Crystal of Decatur and Holly Roe and husband H. of Weston, OH; great grandsons: Kain Deetz and Kyler Ducey both of Punta Gorda, FL; step great grandchildren: Ashlyn Jackson of Decatur, Brooklyn Jackson of Decatur and Mason Dean Roe of Weston, OH;brother: David Moats and wife Thelma of Austin, TX ; sister Marie Barnes and husband William of Decatur; special niece and nephew Pat and Debbie Highley of Shelbyville, IL

She was preceded in death by her husband Bob, parents Harold and Cecilia Moats,brothers: Bobby Moats and Harold Moats.

Family and friends are welcome to attend a graveside service for Ruby to be held at 11:00 AM Thursday August 23, 2012 in Brown Cemetery in Blue Mound Twp., north of may be made in Ruby’s honor to Cancer Care Specialists of Decatur, IL, 200 West McKinley, Decatur, IL 62526.Arrangements are entrusted to Lockart-Green Funeral Home in Shelbyville, IL.The Family would like to thank all of the nurses and staff at the Cancer Care Center of Decatur, 5100 at Decatur Memorial Hospital and Hickory Point Christian of Village of Decatur for the love and care given to Ruby at a time when she needed it the most.
