Zelma R. Banning 89 of Shelbyville, IL, passed away at 10:30 AM Sunday Feb. 19, 2012 in Shelbyville Rehabilitation and Health Care Center in Shelbyville.

Zelma was born Mar. 28, 1922 in Shelby County, IL the daughter of John R. and Jennie Fought Perry.

She married Burl L. Banning in May 10, 1941 and he passed away Jan. 16, 1993.Zelma worked at Borg-Warner Co. in Decatur, IL for over forty years. She also, formerly, worked at Sta-Rite Ginnie Lou Corp. in Shelbyville.

Zelma is survived by a sister Martha E.Butler of Shelbyville and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband Burl, son Roger E. Banning, parents John and Jennie Perry, brothers: Fred and wife Irene Perry, Lester and wife Edna Perry, Orie and wife Martha Perry, Floyd and wife Katherine Perry, David and wife Mildred Perry and Johnny Perry; sisters: Pearl and husband Chester Hagan, Stella and husband David Woodall; brother- in-law Emory “Pete” Butler, nephew Ron Hagan Sr. and niece Ruby Ethridge.

Services will be held at 11:00 AM Friday Feb. 24, 2012 in Lockart-Green Funeral Home in Shelbyville. Rev. Mark Sanders will officiate.Visitation will be one hour before the service on Friday at the funeral home.Burial will be in Glenwood Cemetery, Shelbyville.Memorials can be made to the Shelbyville Chautauqua Restoration Fund.
