Harold Wayne Armstrong, 83, of Shelbyville passed away at 8:24 a.m Friday (February 3, 2012) in Sarah Bush Lincoln Health Care Center, Coles, County.

Memorial services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday in the Lockart-Green Funeral Home, Shelbyville with his son, Daniel officiating. Flag presentation will be by the Shelby County Honor Guard. Memorials may be made to the First Christian Church, Shelbyville or the Palm Terrace Nursing Home, Mattoon.

He was born August 12, 1928 in Shelby County the son of Robert and Faye (Lewis) Armstrong. He married Greneda Gilbert on June 4, 1954 in Taylorville.

He served in the US Army being discharged in 1953. He was involved in farming and construction work until being disabled. He was a member of the Cowden Christian Church, American Legion and Local 1262. He loved the outdoors.

Surviving are his wife, Greneda; 5 children, Diane (Jack) Tucker of Cowden, Donna (Mike) Taylor and Gail (John) Enright both of Shelbyville, Debra Armstrong of Sullivan and Daniel (Tisha) Armstrong of Mt. Auburn; brothers, Forest Armstrong of Florida and Max Armstrong of Shelbyville; sisters, Maude Baldwin of Charleston, Pat Bealeshkia of Champaign, Jessie Polley of Decatur, Marion Lorton of Riverton, Glenna Taylor of Cowden and Eileen McElroy of Alabama; sister-in-law, Mary Armstrong of Taylorville; 8 grandchildren, 4 step grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren and 1 step great-grandchild.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Dick, Bill, Russell and Leo and sisters, Betty and Joan.
