Harriett Ann (Whitesel) Agney, 92, of Shelbyville passed away at 1:17 p.m. Wednesday (March 3, 2010) in the Decatur Memorial Hospital.
Harriett was born Oct. 30, 1917 near Shelbyville, IL the daughter of Jacob David and Gertie Belle Hayworth Whitesel.
She married Artie A. Agney in 1936 at Shelbyville and he passed away Jan. 30, 1988.
Harriett graduated from Shelbyville High School and was a member of the Shelby Christian Church.She loved to knit and quilt and gave many of her beautiful quilts to family and friends.
Formerly, she worked as an aid at Shelby Memorial Hospital, many in the OB department; worked as a waitress at Guy’s Steak House and then retired from General Electric Co. in Mattoon, IL after 13 years.
Surviving are sons: Elmer Agney and wife Barbara of Shelbyville, Harold Agney and wife Sandra of Shelbyville and Robert Agney and wife Jane of Tucson, AZ; daughter –in-law Trudy Agney of Shelbyville; eighteen grandachildren; 31 great grandchildren; six great great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by sisters: Josie Hart and Minnie Agney; brothers: Frank Whitesel, Charlie Whitesel, Robert Whitesel, and George Whitesel.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Sunday Mar. 7, 2010 in Lockart-Green Funeral Home in Shelbyville.Rev. Richard Hargrave will officiate. Visitation will be from 12:00 noon until time of the service on Sunday.Burial will be in Hubbartt Cemetery Beecher City, IL.Memorials can be made to the American Cancer Society or the American Heart Fund.
