Thomas William Miller, 90, of Decatur passed away at 10:07 a.m. Friday (March 30, 2012) in the Decatur Memorial Hospital.

Masonic services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday (April 7, 2012) at the Lockart-Green Funeral Home, Shelbyville with funeral services immediately following. Rev. Kevin Ray will officiate. Visitation will be one hour before service time. Burial will be in Glenwood Cemetery, Shelbyville with military rites by the Shelby County Honor Guard. Memorials may be made to the donor’s choice.

He was born October 1, 1921 in Carterville the son of Lew Allen “Jack” and Florence (McFarland) Miller. He married Sadie May “Irish” Beeson October 27, 1946 in Pana and she preceded him in death February 15, 2011.

He was a 1940 graduate of Shelbyville High School and formerly worked at the Shelby County Highway Department, O.W. Harris Surveying, and as a consulting engineer with Fred Hardy. He later was employed by Illinois Power in Decatur, Standard Oil Co of Indiana, and Fisher Stoune in Decatur designing construction projects in Central Illinois. He served in the US Army during WW II as a Tec Sgt in the 253rd Combat Engineers Battalion. He served in the European Theatre in England, France and Germany including the Battle of the Bulge. He was a member of the American Legion Post # 105 of Decatur, VFW Post # 4829 in Shelbyville, Masonic Lodge # 101 of Marquette, MI and Scottish Rite Consistory of Springfield.

Surviving are son, Steven Miller of Weeki Wachee, FL; brother, Robert “Jay” Miller of Shelbyville; sister, Charlotte Ann Carlson of Decatur.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, brothers, Jack Miller, Jr. and Rex Miller and sister Lorraine Miller.
